YoAmigo Engineering Values

How engineering is done at YoAmigo.

The Code Should Feel Awesome

If the code doesn't feel good to work with, refactor it until it does.

When you know something doesn't feel right, that is your permission to refactor. Just do it.

If You Didn't Test It, It Doesn't Work

AI code never works perfectly on first try. Assume it does not work unless you've tested it.

Always Strive for the Best, Even When It's 10x Harder

There is too much shitty enterprise code out there with products that sales people shove down customer throats. We're not like that. You ship the best possible product (unless I tell you otherwise).

Pixel Perfect is Allowed Here

Most companies don't care about the little things. We do, people do. It makes us proud of what we do. Our customer's benefit. It is a feedback loop. No time excuses. Just do it.

Learn What Should and Shouldn't Be Broken

Customer sites stay the fuck up! Everything else, break it, then fix it. We own our problems.

Good Architecture Keeps Devs and AI Happy

We build for two audiences now: devs and AI. Good architecture actually makes it easier for AI to work with. Helps engineers have better mental models of the codebase with less surprises. Good architecture helps the product scale to more users. It is good all around.

Believe In Yourself, and in AI

You can do hard things. AI can do hard things too. Don't underestimate your own or AI's capabilities.

No Jerks, Help Each Other

We want each other to succeed. You see someone struggling? Encourage them, help them if they ask, be a leader.

If You Feel Fear, You Are on the Right Path

Hard things are hard. Fear is a normal part of doing something hard. Embrace it.
